About Me
Hi! I'm Lizzie!
The Whole “About Me” Story…
So how did a bookworm get into fitness, let alone become obsessed enough to become a trainer?
I got into fitness when I was seventeen when I realized I had the body type that puts on weight if I even look at a donut too long.
My mother (in love) forced me to start working out when I was sixteen years old because I was signing up for lifeguard training and according to my mother’s friends who had their own teenagers in or out of the program, I did not have the physical abilities to succeed in the training.
So she pushed me to start working out, and what she started me on was Zumba. At first it was an unwilling agreement. I didn’t see a need to workout; people who were obsessed with fitness didn’t seem to enjoy anything in life.
But I quickly realized that I was wrong. The more I did it, the more I loved it. I thought Zumba was awesome! I passed my training and got my first job as a lifeguard. But I didn’t stop working out.
About a year later, a trainer came into my life who did weight training. He pushed that women could lift weights too and feel amazing.
I was tentative, but I tried it. At first, I wasn’t sure. It wasn’t the high intensity, crazy music vibes of Zumba. But then I realized I liked being strong. In fact, I’d say that’s when I truly became obsessed with fitness.
Zumba was fun, but strength training… that was something else entirely.
What Came Next:
At first; it was just me having fun. As the years went by, I moved on from lifeguarding to other jobs: waitressing, housekeeping, hotels, etc. Building up as I grew up. But I kept working out the whole time.
I realized I wanted to become a personal trainer when I started getting a lot of people who wanted advice from me. People who asked how I was fitting workouts in my busy schedule when I worked so much. What routine did I follow to look so good? Could they fit in a short time window in the day?
The more I answered questions and gave advice, the more I realized I wanted to do it more effectively. Some of the questions I was asked I had no idea how to answer. I didn’t have kids (at the time) so I had no idea about safe workouts while pregnant. I didn’t know anything about menopause or low testosterone problems.
So I decided to get certified and the answers I needed and the platform to help people out.
Where We Are Now
I first got certified with ACE, but Covid closed down all the gyms (and bankrupted many of them in my area), so I didn’t get much of a chance to help people for awhile.
But I created a YouTube Channel to help people, and it was popular for awhile. I took a break from a lot of stuff when I got married in 2021, had my daughter in 2022, and my son joined our lives at the end of 2022. (Yes, they are best friends)
Throughout it all though, I kept working out. I tailored my content to help more women now that I had experience in working out through pregnancy, postpartum, and just being a mom in general.
A cool benefit happened though that I hadn’t expected. My kids love working out with me! My whole family enjoys working out. I bought my daughter little two pound dumbbells so she can lift weights like Mommy. She loves hitting my boxing bag and doing Zumba!
This is a learned behavior. Kids don’t come out of the womb loving fitness. My husband didn’t work out before he married me.
If you prioritize your health and wellness, it’ll have a ripple effect in your house.
That’s what I do. My mission is to create the ripple effect as far as possible and make it easier for people to implement into their lives.
So welcome to the family! We’re glad to have you!
